The cars hit the track, lucky fans enjoy the ultimate glamping experience, the F1 Superfan’s glittering prize and an Austro Pop party in the mountains: your Formula One weekend starts here.
The start of the weekend signals the start of a weekend of motorsport action at the #AustrianGP at Spielberg. The Formula One cars and the feeder series (Formula 2, GP3 and Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup) did their first laps of the Red Bull Ring today. Leading the way was Lewis Hamilton who went fastest in Free Practice One, lappng at 1:05.483. Max Verstappen was close behind in the first practice session. In the afternoon it was the turn of Sebastian Vettel to go quickest. Qualifying for Sunday’s race starts at 2pm and it promoses to be a thriller.
Two lucky winners of the Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo Caravaning competition were crowned today. The prize was the chance to stay in one of two exclusive caravans decorated in the liveries of Ricciardo and Verstappen and equipped with a host of luxuires. The winners, Lisa Kühberger from Leoben with her life parner and Beatrix Dunkl from Burgenland with her husband get to enjoy the race weekend from the luxury of a camper parked right at the racetrack.
One lucky fan has scooped a fabulous prize: after a VIP weekend at the Austrian Grand Prix, Manuel Gröbl from Feldkirchen near Graz, will leave the Red Bull Ring with the Chequered Flag used to signal the end of the race. Manuel and his friend Birgit Krassnitzer will enjoy a sensational V.I.P. package, including Paddock Club weekend tickets, a luxury overnight stay, helicopter transfer on the morning of the race and a chance to meet a Red Bull Racing driver. Sunday will truly be a day to remember because at the end of the race, he will be presented with the chequered flag by the winner of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Austria.
With the F1 cars back in their garages at the end of the day, it's time to party into the evening with a little night music. The Ö3 stage, built diagonally opposite the Red Bull Ring, takes centre stage from 4:30pm on Friday with a huge party of Austro Pop music with the EAV and Seiler & Speer topping the bill.
Not only can you get close to the Formula One drivers and team bosses at the autograph sessions in the F1 Fan Zone, you can also catch them when they walk the Styrian Green Carpet on Saturday. From 8:00am to 10:00pm, you can catch the pilots and team bosses as they make their way to the Red Bull Ring’s Welcome Centre. As they cross the green carpet on the way to and from the paddock, they will be on hand to welcome visitors, pose for photos and sign autographs.
