Fans from all over Austria and neighbouring countries are to flock to the Murtal valley from 7 to 9 July again for the Formula 1 Großer Preis von Österreich. There might be delays on the main transport routes for those travelling from a distance due to some roadworks here and there. There are a variety of options for making a pleasant journey, with public transport recommended, if possible. The bus and train, in particular, offer attractive alternatives to taking your own car.
On the 2017 Formula 1 weekend, the approach roads to the Red Bull Ring along with most of the main transport routes in Austria are fully open. Due to the expected heavy traffic and with some road works (A9/Selzthaltunnel, A9/Tunnel Wald, S6/St. Marein). If travelling in your own vehicle, you should travel as early as possible and use all available seats if you can. All the information and tips on getting to the Red Bull Ring can be found here!
Projekt Spielberg recommends arriving before 07:30. F1 fans can reach the Red Bull Ring coming from the St. Michael junction along the S36 Murtal road, with options for exiting the road at Knittelfeld-West and Zeltweg-East – or if coming from Klagenfurt, via the Zeltweg-West exit. Visitors should then follow the traffic management system and instructions of organisers at the circuit. Depending on the colour of their F1 ticket, visitors will be directed all the way from the motorway to the closest car park – which will be within walking distance of the circuit. With the Spielberg app acting a loyal travel companion there are numerous advantages when it comes to arriving at the circuit. The app allows users to calculate their arrival route, and when you leave the circuit, the Find my Car feature will help you to find where you parked your car or motorcycle in a matter of seconds – as you want to use all your precious time at the Red Bull Ring for as many thrilling experiences as possible, after all! All the information can be found here!
