From tomorrow, riders like Marc Márquez, Valentino Rossi and Bradley Smith, their bikes and teams will take over the pit lane where members of the publlic had previously been in pole position: Numerous fans grabbed the opportunity to take advantage of the Public Pit Lane Walk to get a close-up insight into the world of their two wheeled heroes. You could feel the excitement when the first teams rolled their bikes out of their pit garages. Valentino Rossi fans left no doubt as to who was the most popular: The area in front of the pits of the all-time Italian hero drew the biggest crowd, and they were rewarded when the superstar appeared to sign autographs and to talk to his fans.

Championship leader arrives with a "good feeling" at the Red Bull Ring, Viñales likes the track

What can fans expect from tomorrow when the first practice sessions rev up on track? In the pre-event press conference, the top MotoGP aces delivered their first impressions of what might happen at the race in Spielberg this weekend: Championship leader Marc Márquez as well as leading challengers Maverick Viñales, Valentino Rossi, Dani Pedrosa (who arrived at the Red Bull ring with a Skydive-Jump), Cal Crutchlow and Pol Espargaró – who took the best KTM result in MotoGP last weekend in Brno – spoke to the media at the opening press conference. Here are some of the best quotes from the riders:

Marc Márquez (Honda): "I’ll bring the good feeling from Brno to Austria. Last year we didn't have the best acceleration here so it will now be important to take the right steps to find the best setup for Sunday. The Red Bull Ring is special, hard braking and hard acceleration. We will see what is possible, podium or maybe the win. I am confident we can be much stronger this year."

Maverick Vinales (Yamaha): "I like this track: it went well last year so I am highly motivated for this weekend."

Valentino Rossi (Yamaha): "This track is very different to the others. It’s very fast: The average speed is incredible and there are not many corners. On this track, you have to concentrate for every single meter, and we have to be prepared for all conditions. Flag-to-Flag is difficult for everyone, and one lap can make a big difference."

Dani Pedrosa (Honda): "It’s been fantastic. It was my first time to jump with a parachute and I really liked it. You should do that at least once in your life! We had a lot of fun with the whole team and we really got some great images. Also, the comments of the fans on social network were amazing."

Pol Espargaró (KTM): "We've got an intense weekend ahead of us but I am happy to be here and part of the team at the first home race of KTM. All mechanics and all staff are very excited and are looking forward to finally getting going!"

FIRDAY: Start your engines!
