The Red Bull Ring is ready for Formula 1 - Tickets available at the circuit

Projekt Spielberg and the region around the Red Bull Ring are all set and ready for the Formula 1 Großer Preis von Österreich 2015 to begin. The elite motorsport event will be the centre of attention in and around the Red Bull Ring in the Murtal valley from Thursday. Thousands of people are working on putting the final touches to the infrastructure along with making sure both the fans and teams are welcomed - and are as comfortable as they can be over next few days. The first visitors are heading to the campsites, with the F1 motorhomes built in the paddock. The official start of the family motorsport festival will be on Thursday evening as DJANGO 3000 perform a concert in the F1 Village. Before then, all fans with valid weekend tickets can take a look at the teams’ pits with the Public Pit Lane Walk. On top of that, they can get closer than never before to the Formula 1 drivers at special autograph sessions. The good news for all Formula 1 fans yet to get a ticket is that they can be purchased at the Red Bull Ring’s ticket points from Thursday (18 June)!

The biggest sporting event of the year

The eighth race of the season for the elite motor sport series is also the biggest sporting event of 2015 in Austria. The enormous effort that goes into a Formula 1 Grand Prix is shown by the sheer numbers of people who are working to help ensure the racing weekend runs smoothly. Just for the ten teams and 20 drivers there is a total of close to 2,000 people working behind the scenes. There are also hundreds of security staff, police officers, firemen, paramedics and doctors to look after the well-being of all. In addition, there are two rescue helicopters with a team of doctors there on standby for the whole weekend. Then there are just as many track marshals, official representatives, stewards and technicians to keep the racing circuit in perfect shape. Another big troop is the orchestra with 150 musicians from three miners’ bands in the local region, who will play the Austrian national anthem immediately before the start of the Formula 1 Großer Preis von Österreich 2015. That is not to forget over 500 international journalists, photographers, TV and radio teams who are reporting for global media from the middle of Austria. Teams and fans arrive in Spielberg

The sense of anticipation is building in and around the Red Bull Ring ahead of the Formula 1 Großer Preis von Österreich 2015. The teams’ trucks are arriving into place and the motor homes have been built. The Media Center at the voestalpine wing is ready to offer more than 500 international journalists a unique view of the entire circuit. The first tents are being erected at the campsites. The chance of there being some perfect weather for motorsport are looking good, leaving nothing in the way of another weekend of Formula 1 thrills in Austria!

Up close to the star drivers. On Thursday afternoon, fans with a valid weekend ticket can get up close to the drivers at an autograph session from 12:25 at the F1 Village. The Austrian Grand Prix is unique in getting all the drivers to give autographs during the race weekend in Spielberg. From 15:15 motorsport fans with a weekend ticket then have the one-off opportunity, as part of the Public Pit Lane Walk, to see the pit lane, all the latest F1 cars and teams up close. The official start of the family motorsport festival will then come at 18:00 on Thursday as the Bavarian band DJANGO 3000 kick off the music at the F1 Village at the Red Bull Ring’s west loop. There will be a comprehensive side schedule offered at the F1 Village over four days. For instance, up to and including Sunday there will be an exhibition of the historic cars from the turbo era of the 1980s that can be seen in action in the Legends Parade on Saturday and Sunday – including the McLaren MP4 (1984) driven by Niki Lauda, the Ferrari F1-87/88c (1988) by Gerhard Berger and the 1986 Lotus 98T by Ayrton Senna.

Everything in place for Formula 1

This year we are again asking people travelling to the Grand Prix to “get on your bike.” Those who take their own bicycle are ideally prepared for a comfortable journey to the circuit. There are two Park&Bike car parks available close to the Red Bull Ring – in Großlobming and in Weißkirchen. The cycle paths from there to the racing circuit are fully signposted. The bike park is located right in front of the entrance of the Red Bull Ring. Anyone who is planning to travel by car is strongly advised to arrive before 07:30 in the morning. Those seeking information on public transport options can find HERE.

Graz is giving its all as a Grand Prix capital

Under the motto of Pole Position Graz, the entire urban area of the Styrian capital has been striving for a few weeks to emphasise its connections to motor racing. The city’s buses have been given a new Formula 1 car design, with pit stop crews depicted at the bus stops, while certain squares and streets have been decorated with flags featuring the Spielberg logo, with a lot of shop windows also kitted out in Formula 1 style. Guests on public transport are being given an extra Formula 1-related treat – popular comedian Alex Kristan is parodying Niki Lauda in announcing the stops. For a few weeks there has also been a marvellous exhibition in the city centre with around 40 pictures of Formula 1 photographer Rainer W. Schlegelmilch. From 19 to 21 June, the main square in Graz is to become a fan area with a giant screen showing the race weekend from the Red Bull Ring, along with a pit stop game and exhibition of Formula 1 cars.

Get in pole position with the Spielberg App

This year the Formula 1 fans in Austria can again stay completely up-to-date with the Spielberg App. Those who don’t want to miss out on news and details on the Formula 1 Großer Preis von Österreich 2015 schedule, including a ‘pit radio’, details on the race and the weather, info on arriving and transport, as well as the latest on Projekt Spielberg, should download the latest version of the app. A valid Formula 1 ticket will guarantee you free entry to the Hitradio Ö3 concerts on Friday (19 June) as well as the Projekt Spielberg concerts on Saturday (20 June) – but a first come, first served principle applies! There is an extra bonus for Spielberg App users, however – by registering on the app and entering the number of your valid Formula 1 ticket in the ‘concert ticket’ menu option, you will be guaranteed pole position with a place in a special area right in front of the stage. Fans can therefore get up close to watch the Boss Hoss, Twin Atlantic and Tagträumer on Friday, along with Folkshilfe, The Baseballs and the show from Andreas Gabalier on Saturday! All the information and links for downloading the Spielberg App for iOS and Android are on www.projekt-spielberg.com/app.

F1 the highlight at the Home of the Speedgang

The eyes of the world are on the Red Bull Ring for over a week, but the racing circuit, which is also known as the home of the Speedgang (from the Red Bull series) plays host to almost all the top international racing series throughout the year. The Red Bull Ring’s calendar guarantees top-quality racing action from April to September with events like the ADAC GT Masters, DTM, Truck Race European Championship, European Le Mans Series and Red Bull Air Race. Along with the top motorsport events, the public came to enjoy the Spielberg Music Festival for the third time this year as top Alpine folk music was performed by traditional and progressive artists. From 2016, the MotoGP in Spielberg will also treat fans to some thrilling action on two wheels.
