MotoGP riders are experiencing the old town of Graz

From Friday onwards the heroes on two wheels are to get back on their bikes for the „Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich” at Spielberg. The teams already set out their stalls at Spielberg and the racers were welcomed on Wednesday in Graz with a very special race action. With leisurely 20 km/h the racers Jack Miller (AUS), Danilo Petrucci (ITA), Takaaki Nakagami (JPN), Marcel Schrötter (GER) and Philipp Öttl (GER) were touring through the old town of Graz with the tram.

Next stop – Main square

After the special journey with the Grand Prix tram from the Herrengasse to the main square, the drivers were answering questions at the Media Talk and hundreds of fans took the chance to make some souvenir photos and collect autographs. Additionally three race bikes were displayed in the fan zone to allow visitors to take a closer look at them.

Views from the MotoGP Media Talk in Graz 8 August:

Danilo Petrucci (Ducati): “The race track here is fantastic. Long straights, hard braking zones and only two real left curves. There is huge strain on the tyres. Managing that will be the key to a successful race. I would like to finish in the top five on Sunday.”

Jack Miller (Ducati): “My first visit to Spielberg was in 2011, but it’s the first time I’ve been to Graz. I like it here in Austria and I really like the Red Bull Ring too. It will definitely be exciting, as anything can happen in MotoGP – there is still all to play for in the world championship!”

Takaaki Nakagami (Honda): “I am really looking forward to the race weekend in Austria. My personal aim is getting in the top ten. The world championship isn’t decided yet, but closing the gap on Marc [Márquez] will be difficult.”

Marcel Schrötter (Kalex): “I find it a cool circuit and I can handle it well. Strong acceleration is vital. I have always had a lot of fun here.”

Philipp Öttl (KTM): “My first GP win was my highlight of the year, of course. In 2017 I was second in Austria. 8th place in Brno wasn’t quite what I planned, but it showed that we can compete. Next year, I will definitely be in Moto2. I can’t say any more yet.”

Tickets for the race weekend

Starting on Friday the racers will fight on the Red Bull Ring with speeds of over 300 km/h. Spines are already tingling around the Red Bull Ring with the race weekend almost upon us. The side program and the “Spielberg MotoGP Bike City” is offering excitement for all those who need a break from the racing tension. Last-minute deciders can still buy tickets at the cash desks on site, starting Thursday. Opening hours: Thursday from 10.30 am till 6.00 pm, Friday and Saturday from 8.00 am till 6.00 pm, Sunday from 8.00 am till 2.00 pm. All the information on tickets can be found on www.projekt-spielberg.com/en/motogp/tickets
