In a place that is usually in the firm grip of combustion engines, electricity will reign during the Krone E-Mobility Play Days 2017. E-mobility is still making its way to the centre of public attention. Questions often remain unanswered and contact points are few. On the 29th and 30th of September, the Red Bull Ring hosts numerous experts who will show how mobility will change in the near future. Visitors are given the chance to witness innovations and get actively involved. Among others, renowned automobile manufacturers will provide fast rides to be tested on the Formula 1 track’s north course and the Driving Center. Formula E’s first visit to Austria and the world début of the Red Bull DR.ONE will without a doubt mark the weekend’s highlights.

The pinnacle of electric motor sport in Austria for the first time

The FIA Formula E series is the first racing series to exclusively feature electric cars. Never before has a Formula E car been driven on Austrian soil and there is perhaps no better opportunity to celebrate the pinnacle of electric motor sport’s first visit to Austria than the Krone E-Mobility Play Days 2017 at Spielberg. One of its top teams – ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport – will be coming to the Red Bull Ring on 29/30 September and do spectacular show runs on the circuit’s south course in their Formula E car. The series’ safety car – a BMW i8 – puts the icing on the cake of the Formula E atmosphere. This plug-in hybrid will also be showcased during the show runs.

Celebrity guest: Formula E world champion Sébastien Buemi

As an added bonus, Renault will deploy Swiss superstar Sébastien Buemi, this series’ reigning world champion, to the Krone E-Mobility Play Days, where he will sign autographs and take souvenir photos with his fans. “Formula E appeals to young people. That helps a lot. The cars accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h almost as fast as Formula 1 cars. We always drive on city circuits, never on race tracks. That’s why it would be great if the Red Bull Ring could become part of the Formula E calendar,” Buemi says. Perhaps he can provide some advice to the racers in the E-Racing for everybody event offered by E-Kart Race Schladming during this weekend. With its E-Kart, which is able to put many sports car to shame with its top speed, KREISEL will surely receive some astonished looks.

Red Bull DR.ONE world début & Drone World Cup

Visitors of the Krone E-Mobility Play Days 2017 will not only be treated to live drone sport at the highest level, they will also witness a total of three débuts, including Formula E’s first visit to Austria. First, Red Bull DR.ONE will make its world début at the Red Bull Ring. Furthermore, on the 29th and 30th of September, the Air Masters Drone Racing FAI World Cup will stop in Austria for the first time. 40 of the world’s best pilots will try to manoeuvre their devices – which reach speeds of up to 130 km/h – through the specially designed, three-dimensional course, putting the laws of physics to the acid test. Fans will be able to look over the technicians’ shoulders and watch them set up their machines in the pits and experience the race up close and from the drones’ perspective wearing VR goggles. Moreover, visitors will learn many things about the fascinating and fast-growing world of drones. The Technical University of Graz will present their Rescue Drones, while Media Markt will provide Austria’s first contact point for private users during the Krone E-Mobility Play Days 2017.
