Lucas Auer to race in the ADAC GT Masters as special-guest

Lucas Auer is currently leading the DTM. However, his next start will be in the ADAC GT Masters at the Red Bull Ring, where he will have his first start in the “League of Supersportscars” from 9th to 11th of June. “It’s always nice to race in Austria as an Austrian. I like the track. Incredible, how things have developed there”, says Auer about his first home-race of the season.

EXCITMENT BEFORE THE HOME-RACE

The ADAC GT Masters has already made an impression on the 22-year-old: “I have increasingly followed the series and have great respect, seeing the quality of the drivers. I have only once tested the Mercedes-AMG GT3 so far at the Lausitzring. I have never raced in a GT3-car before so I am very excited about what’s waiting for me.”

Auer will not be the only Austrian on the starting-grid. With Philipp Eng, Norbert Siedler, Chris Höher and Klaus Bachler four more Austrians will be in the ADAC GT Masters. Another ten drivers will have home-races in the five partner-series.

THE DTM-STAR WILL RACE IN ANY CAR

Lucas Auer and German Sebastian Asch will drive car number 26 at the Red Bull Ring for BWT Mücke Motorsport. “It’s always nice to work with a team from Peter Mücke. I have been with him in Formula 3 and have learned a lot there. In the DTM I won my first race with the team at the Lausitzring in 2016”, as Auer describes his personal history with Mücke. The Austrian is not expecting difficulties from switching between a DTM-car and GT3: “Of course, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 is quite different as compared to the Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM, but as a racing-driver you have to be able to switch between different vehicles.”

Lucas Auer will be back at the Red Bull Ring in his DTM-Mercedes in September 2017. On the 23rd and 24th DTM will be at the Spielberg for their 2017-race in Austria.
