The race was red flagged but at the re-start Philipp Eng pounced to challenge for third spot. After a hard fight against Sebastian Asch, he finished the podium behind the team of Jules Gounon (France) and Daniel Keilwitz (Germany) and Sven Barth (Germany) and Maximilian Hackländer (Germany). “Ricky did a brilliant start stint. Our boys in the pits made the right decision and avoided an unsafe release – even though it lost us four or five places. I had to fight very, very hard to get them back. It was a brilliant battle with Luca Ludwig and Sebastian Asch to the line, but it was all fair, all cool and I’m happy to be on the podium at my home race,” said Eng with a smile.

The result edged his compatriot Lucas Auer off the podium right at the end, but Auer was still satisfied: “It’s been a mega day: second in qualifying, handing over the car in second. I’m happy with my debut!” The Grasser Racing Team’s duo’s got home in 18th and 21st position.
