The Return of the King

The three-time European champion Antonio Albacete returns to competition at the opening round of the 2017 FIA Truck Racing European Championship at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Having taken a year out of competition, the Spaniard is eager to get back into action. "I want to take on the top drivers like Jochen Hahn, Adam Lacko and Norbert Kiss. My truck is more than well prepared and I think we will be competitive and quick!” He’ll face stiff competition in Spielberg against a field of first-rate drivers, lead by the defending champion Jochen Hahn (GER) and Norbert Kiss (HUN), who has two winner’s trophies in the cabinet, and who won all four Truck races at the Red Bull Ring in the 2015 round in a dominant way. “We will do everything to put on a huge show for the fans,” said Hahn, who is gunning for his fifth European title.

The crowd will also be cheering on local favourite Markus Altenstrasser (AUT) who scored two podium finishes at his home race in 2016. And he’d like nothing more than to be back on the top step this weekend: “The first two races at the Red Bull Ring last year were a big hit! With so many incredible fans behind me to cheer me on, the home races are always special.”

Tons of racing action this weekend

The drivers of three partnerships are fuelling the support Truck Race Trophy 2017 at the Red Bull Ring: Suzuki Cup Europe/Austria, Sports Car Challenge and Supercar Challenge.

All around the Trucker's Camp, there will be korso trucks, historic trucks and the industry fair to make this a festival of trucking fun. Away from the racetrack, there’ll be a collection of US cars and there’ll be displays of unstoppable human power with the European Giants, who are some of the strongest men in the world, and the Spielberg Graz Giants American football team.
