Le Mans racers conquer the Red Bull Ring

Many fans will still remember the unique Le Mans atmosphere provided by the historic race cars that took to the Red Bull Ring during the 2017 Legends Parade. In just about a week – during the Four Hours of the Red Bull Ring from 21 to 23 July – the Le Mans prototypes will once again fight for glory.

The fifth visit to Spielberg

Following Silverstone and Monza, the Red Bull Ring is the third circuit on the calender of the 2017 European Le Mans Series. Stopping at the Red Bull Ring for the fifth time, the championship is comprised of six events. The 24 Hours of Le Mans’ ‘little sister’ follows the same rules and offers top-level endurance racing with an enormous field of drivers in the three classes LMP2, LMP3 and LMGTE. Due to the races’ length, almost all ELMS teams field three drivers which results in many exciting driver changes. In 2017, some 100 drivers from 21 countries will steer 36 race cars around the track during the 4 Stunden vom Red Bull Ring. Among others, fans will be able to cheer JMW Motorsport, who won their class during the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in their new Ferrari 488.

Legendary thoroughbred race cars full of technology, driven by bona fide superstars

Enjoying free admission to all open grandstands, fans will experience many spectacular overtakes at up to 300 km/h as well as international superstars such as Fabien Barthez. Starting in the LMP2 class, the French national football team’s former goalkeeper and word cup champion will once again put a Ligier JSP217 Gibson campaigned by Panis Barthez Competition through its paces on the Red Bull Ring. Like all other drivers, Fabien Barthez will be available for autographs on Sunday, 23 July in pit lane.

Autograph sessions, Pitwalk and partner series

In the open paddock, fans have the chance to take a peak behind the scenes of contemporary motor sport. Furthermore, they can experience racing competition up-close during the Pitwalk on Saturday (12:50 to 1:30 pm) and Sunday (9:50 to 11:05 am). The drivers will sign autographs and take selfies with visitors on Sunday, 23 July between 10:15 and 10:45 am – shortly before the start of the 4 Stunden vom Red Bull Ring (1:00 pm) – in pit lane Two partner series will provide even more action: The Michelin Le Mans Cup and the Formula Renault Eurocup.
