The Legends Parade at the Red Bull Ring, which has long become a tradition, will once again be part of the framework programme surrounding the Formula 1 race. For the fifth time, it will make motorsport history come alive. Following the motto “A simply great time”, this time around it will commemorate the era of the Deutsche Rennsport-Meisterschaft (DRM) which ran from 1972 to 1985.
Since 2014, spectators during the F1 weekend have been treated to many things that make true racing enthusiast's heart rejoice. The Legends Parade has in the past make jaws drop with historic Le Mans cars, the legends of the turbo era and all Austrian Formula 1 drivers still alive today. During the "Formula 1 eyetime Großer Preis von Österreich", fans will be taken back to a truly special epoch of motorsport. The Deutsche Rennsport-Meisterschaft (DRM) – the predecessor of today’s DTM was characterised by spectacular cars with race-worthy chassis, massively flared wheel arches, wings and turbocharged engines. The drivers in this year’s Legends Parade include Niki Lauda, Gerhard Berger and Dieter Quester as well as domestic skiing legend Franz Klammer in his Alfa Romeo Group 5 race car.
Apart from many other successful drivers, Joachim “Striezel” Stuck, who won the very first DRM in 1972, is also part of the lineup. “Back then, the DRM was not just a great series, but the best thing in Germany, and other countries envied us because of it,” Stuck raves about this good old time. He will drive his Porsche 956.
Tickets for the “Holiday Grand Prix for the Whole Family” are still available via the Ticket Shop. In addition to the Legends Parade, the "Formula 1 eyetime Großer Preis von Österreich 2018" boasts a wide range of other programme items: Ö3 Concerts, Public Pit Lane Walk, the “Styrian Green Carpet”, autograph sessions in the F1 Fanzone and much more!
